Halfords E-Bike Launches for Teens

13 June 2019

  • Halfords reveals £850 e-bike for those aged 14+
  • Launch comes as retailer reveals like-for-like growth of 47% for e-bikes

It’s not just Silver Cyclists enjoying the electric bike (e-bike) revolution. Halfords has designed an e-bike (e-bike) for teens.

Called the Carrera Vengeance E-junior, it is aimed at those who are 14 and above boasts eight gears and a maximum speed of 15.5 mph.  The pedal-assisted mountain bike means that they can make the most of trail rides and off-road adventures.

Powered by a frame-mounted lithium ion battery, which has a range of up to 40 miles, it takes just four hours to charge.

The model is a mini-me version of Halfords’ adult Carrera Vengeance e- mountain bike which was first released in 2017.

The launch comes as Halfords reports that electric bikes (e-bikes) now account for 11% of total bike sales across its group and have grown by 47% on a like-for-like basis.

Darren Smith, Halfords e-bike expert says “As the e-bike revolution gathers pace, making them accessible to teenagers seems to be the next obvious step. Not only will they be able to keep pace and even cycle past their parents, but the combination of pedal assistance and long battery range means they will be able to ride further, and hills and trails will feel that little bit flatter. We think anything that encourages and inspires more people to take up cycling can only be a good thing.”
