One motorist in five believes gadgets will improve their driving
A new study by motoring retailer Halfords has shown that the number of motorists using parking cameras is set to soar.
The aftermarket systems include a camera and monitor which are connected and give drivers a clear picture when reversing, or link with your existing stereo screen.
The poll of 2,000 shows that a fifth of motorists (20 per cent) think having a reversing camera installed would improve their driving. In addition, 32 per cent would feel safer if driving with one and 28 per cent would feel more confident if driving with one.
29 per cent feel that insurance companies should offer a discount for those who use one too.
According to the retailer, average monthly searches for reversing cameras stands at 8,000 per month.
Florence Smith of Halfords says: “We have seen a surge in searches for reversing cameras and we think this is set to become the next big motoring trend. Not only do they encourage safer driving but could save motorists on insurance one day.
We’ve improved our offering and have launched five new models in time for the summer. All offer 170 degree viewing angle and can be seamlessly installed at a price that suits every motorist’s wallet.”
Halfords offers a fitting service for £75, where it can be installed by a colleague in under two hours.
