HALFORDS GROUP PLC: PURCHASE OF OWN SHARES

Halfords Group PLC announces that on 22 August 2011 it purchased, through Investec Bank plc, 9,620 of its ordinary shares for transfer into treasury at a price of 289.452 pence per share. The highest price paid was 290.0 pence per share and the lowest price paid was 287.539 pence per share. 

The shares held in treasury will be used to meet options under the Company's share options schemes between 2011 and 2014. Following the above purchase, the Company now holds 639,332 shares in treasury. Since 7 April 2011 when the buy back programme commenced the Company has bought back 6,816,296 shares for cancellation and 4,589,620 for transfer into treasury.
