HALFORDS GROUP PLC: PURCHASE OF OWN SHARES

Halfords Group PLC announces that on 1 September 2008 it purchased for cancellation 40,000 of its ordinary shares at a price of 291.7692p per ordinary share.

Following the above purchase, the Company have now bought back 22,283,597 shares for cancellation, since the 8 June 2006 when the buy back programme commenced.
