David was appointed Chief Executive of Halfords on 4th August 2008, joining the business from Walmart where he was Senior Vice President New Business Development in San Francisco. Prior to this role he was President of Walmart Germany. Earlier in his career he was with Tesco (1985-2003), where he held a variety of roles including developing and latterly leading their business in Central Europe. David is also a non-executive director of Premier Foods.
Paul McClenaghan, Commercial Director
Paul joined Halfords as Director of Trading in May 2005. Prior to this, Paul worked for the Dixons Group, most recently as Trading Director for Vision and Audio. He also held the positions of Buying Director for Brown Goods and Commercial Director for Dixon's Asia.
Bill Duffy, Chief Executive (Halfords Autocentres)
Bill Duffy became the Chief Executive of Halfords Autocentres on September 12th 2011, after 5 years as the company's Chief Operating Officer. Prior to this, he was Managing Director of RAC Auto Windscreens and he has also held Managing Director roles at Lex Commercials and TDG Vehicle Rental. Bill has over 30 years of experience in the motor industry.
Kevin Thomas, Store Operations Director
Kevin joined Halfords in 1995. He has held a number of General Management and Senior Management roles within the Operations and Development functions at Halfords. Prior to this his experience includes Property, Space Planning and Operational roles with a number of D.I.Y retailers.
Kevin was a Senior Manager with the Boots Group and has over 25 years experience within the Retail sector.
Gerry Murphy, Group Brand Marketing Director.
Gerry joined Halfords on 4th January 2011 and is responsible for developing and implementing Halfords brand marketing strategy across all channels. Most recently he was UK CEO of The Number, owners of 118 118. Prior to this, he was Marketing Director at Superdrug and introduced the "Beauty as Fashion" strapline, along with the company's first transactional website. Gerry also worked as Head of Marketing at Matalan and has held roles at Toys R Us as well as other family owned retail businesses.
Robin Caley, Business Systems and Property Director
Robin joined Halfords in December 2008 and is the Property and Business Director. Previously he has led Halfords' international business and taken responsibility for IT and Store Formats. Prior to joining Halfords, Robin ran the food retail business of the Savola Group (Panda) in the Middle East and held a number of senior positions both in the UK and overseas during his 17-year career with Tesco. Robin is a qualified accountant.
Andrew Findlay, Group Finance Director
Andrew joined Halfords on 1st February 2011 from Marks and Spencer Group plc, where he held the position of Director of Finance, Tax and Treasury.
He played a key role in programmes to deliver cost savings and improvements in working capital. Prior to Marks and Spencer he held senior finance roles at the London Stock Exchange and at Cable and Wireless, both in the UK and US. Andrew qualified as a chartered accountant with Coopers and Lybrand.
Jonathan Crookall, Group Human Resources Director
Jonathan joined Halfords as Group Human Resources Director in October 2011. He has in-depth experience of the Human Resources function across many leading companies. Most recently he was HR Director, Resourcing and Development at Specsavers and before that HR, Group Talent and Learning Director with Lloyds TSB. He has also worked in similar roles at Abbey, Zurich Financial Services and BAE systems.
